Eric Graben Endorsed by South Carolina Education Leaders
Friday, April 20th, 2018
Eric Graben, Democratic candidate for Congress in South Carolina’s 4th district, announced two education leaders, are endorsing his campaign: former South Carolina Superintendent of Education Inez Tenenbaum, who was also chair of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, and former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education and former Democratic Nominee for State Superintendent of Education Frank Holleman.
“As a product of upstate public schools– Daniel High School and Clemson University – whose children attended Greenville public schools, I am beyond honored to receive the endorsement of two of our state’s leading voices for public education and meaningful education reform. As a father of two children of my own and a dedicated mentor of some of several of the most disadvantaged children in Greenville, I know the important role a good education can serve in our young people’s lives. I am proud Secretary Tenenbaum and Deputy Secretary Frank Holleman have put their trust in my candidacy to make the right decisions to move our state and country forward in Congress.
“I have seen Eric’s leadership up close and personal, and know he would be a Congressman that would make real strides in our education system,” said Tenenbaum. “For years, he has mentored young children to help them get a fair shot at the life we all deserve. He knows the challenges the most vulnerable face, and he knows what more we need to do to ensure our young people are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow. I am proud to stand with Eric in his run for Congress.”
“It is time we have members of Congress throughout our state that will prioritize education in Congress” said Holleman. “Eric will be that member, and I am proud to stand with his campaign.”
Graben’s announcement builds on his campaign’s momentum. Just two weeks ago, he announced that numerous current and former elected officials from the district had endorsed his campaign. Last week, he announced he has raised more than $55,000 in the race, notably in just two weeks during the 1st quarter.
