Janice Malone Joining Sanders Clyde as Principal for the 2018-2019 School Year

Charleston County School District is proud to announce and welcome Janice Malone as Principal of Sanders Clyde Elementary School.
Bringing over 30 years of experience to Sanders Clyde, Malone is a native Charlestonian with a history of success in Charleston County. She currently serves as Principal of Matilda F. Dunston Primary School, which has been recognized as a National Distinguished Title I School after five years of hard work. In addition, Dunston Primary has been recognized as a Palmetto Gold and Silver Award winner. Before her eleven year tenure at Dunston, Malone served as Principal of Mary Ford Elementary for nine years. Under her leadership, Mary Ford was awarded the Palmetto Silver Award and the Closing the Achievement Gap Award.
After a successful teaching career at Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary and serving as Assistant Principal there for two years, Malone was recruited by an investment firm for education to establish a charter school for the arts in North Carolina. After its first year, the school’s test scores were comparable to and exceeded some neighboring schools and was widely known for its quality of arts performances across the district.
Malone holds a bachelor’s in Education from the College of Charleston and a master’s in Elementary Administration from The Citadel.
