Jennifer Crawford Named Chief Nursing Officer of New Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital

Jennifer Crawford, Clinical Manager of women’s services at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, was selected as the new Chief Nursing Officer of Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital last month.

Jennifer has the perfect mix of expertise and enthusiasm for our biggest and most exciting growth initiative. We expect to open our new hospital in the Carnes Crossroads section of Berkeley County by late summer, and Jennifer will assume this new leadership role on Jan. 1, 2019.

Jennifer is an example of how teammates can grow professionally within the system. She’s spent her entire 21-year healthcare career at Roper St. Francis Healthcare. She started at RSFH in 1997 as an exercise specialist in our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. She began working as a unit secretary in 1998 while she was in nursing school, then became an RN in 2000 in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Roper Hospital. She was named manager of that unit in 2005 and later received additional responsibility of other ICUs at Roper Hospital. She transferred to her current role in 2015. Her vast experiences give her the holistic perspective necessary to help lead a community hospital.

Jennifer has repeatedly demonstrated her passion for providing high quality care by developing highly engaged and competent clinical teams. In June, RSFH President and CEO Lorraine Lutton recognized Jennifer’s exemplary work in addressing breastfeeding exclusivity rates of newborns at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and awarded her the system’s first Vision Award for “exceeding expectations every day in quality, access and affordability.” She also has spearheaded multiple successful initiatives, including:

- A Rapid Response and Stroke Team, which was recognized for excellence by the Joint Commission

- A comprehensive Intensivist program at Roper Hospital

- BSSF’s bid to receive Baby Friendly designation

Jennifer’s familiarity with Berkeley County will be an asset in her hospital leadership. She’s lived in the community since 1996, and she’s been active in numerous school and community events. Jennifer and her husband, Brian, have two children, Madison, 14, and Easton, 10.
