LS3P congratulates Amy Wright, founder of Bitty and Beau’s coffee shop, who was honored with AIA Charleston’s Service Award on Friday, November 8. The award, which is given to companies working collaboratively to promote the value of good design, improve the built environment, and serve the greater community in and around Charleston, was presented at the AIA Charleston Design and Service Awards Gala held at the Woolfe Street Playhouse. Sam Hazeltine and Kate Smith accepted the award on behalf of Bitty & Beau’s, along with Cameron Wilson from architecture, interiors, and planning firm LS3P who nominated Wright for the award.
Wright founded the chain of coffee shops, named for her two children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), in Wilmington, NC in 2016. Wright has long served as a fierce advocate for people with (IDD), and the groundbreaking chain of coffee shops is fulfilling a critical need for meaningful employment for these individuals, one cup of coffee at a time. LS3P collaborated with Wright on the prototype of the coffee shop’s Charleston and Savannah stores.
